Meet Our Dedicated Team
Welcome, I am Abena, Owner and Director of Curiosity Villa Learning Center Family Child Care. I hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and bring over 23 years of healthcare experience, including 8 years in community pharmacy and 15 years working as a Clinical Pharmacist in the hospital setting. During my hospital career, I had the opportunity of receiving specialized training and working in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Unit, caring for infants and children with specialized medical needs as a pharmacist.
I am certified in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and First Aid. Throughout my professional journey, teaching, mentoring, and helping others have always been at the heart of what I do. I greatly enjoyed teaching pharmacy students in both clinical and classroom settings and found fulfillment in helping others learn, grow, and succeed.
After developing overuse injury from many years of computer-intensive work, related to my pharmacy career which resulted in two hand surgeries, I decided to pursue a path more closely aligned with my passion for teaching and nurturing young children. This calling led to the creation of Curiosity Villa Learning Center in August 2026.
At Curiosity Villa Learning Center, I am committed to providing a safe, loving, and engaging environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to explore the world around them. Our mission is to foster curiosity, confidence, creativity, kindergarten readiness, and a love for Jesus Christ while helping each child grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
I am especially passionate about STEM education and want to inspire every child to develop an early love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By encouraging hands-on learning, creativity, and critical thinking, I strive to build a strong educational foundation that prepares children for lifelong learning and future success.
